Pulmonary nodule. Patient under 35.
ACR Fleischner Society recommendations (MacMahon, et al. Radiology 2017; 284(1): 228-43) suggest the following: No need for follow-up, unless the nodule is strongly suspicous.
Notes::Average patient under 35 has very low risk for lung cancer, therefore no need for follow-up. If the nodule is strongly suspicous, a follow-up low dose chest CT study in 6-12 months will be sufficient. Chest X-ray can also be used to follow up nodule larger than 1 cm.
